With many things in the sporting world everybody seems to know best. If you ask one athlete if massage works they may say yes another may say no and both will give great reasons for and against. The reality is there is evidence that can back up both arguments however, as every case and every massage is different, depending on many factors such as when the massage is delivered, who delivers, speed and kind of massage, it’s very difficult to compare like for like, and there for very difficult to know how much massage exactly massage works.
There are many types of sports massage the trick is finding what is right for you, and to have confidence in your therapist. It may not work for everyone or it might be a case of the technique is not right for you. My personal preference is deep tissue and foam rolling since starting to use both i found my aches and pains went and could recover slightly quicker between training sessions. This doesn’t mean it may work for you the best way is to try it and find out, this doesn’t mean a one off but give it a few sessions even a months then give an opinion.
